Teams leave the pitstop at New Orleans, Louisiana at the following times:
1) 12:40 a.m. -- Bransen
2) 12:41 a.m. -- Paolo
3) 12:49 a.m. -- Linz
4) 1:39 a.m. -- Godlewski
5) 1:52 a.m. -- Weaver
6) 1:54 a.m. -- Gaghan

The first clue directs teams to fly 2,000 miles to Panama City, Panama. Teams take taxis from the French Quarter to Louis Armstrong International Airport. They arrive at the airport:
1) Linz
2) Bransen
3) Paolo
4) Godlewski
5) Weaver
6) Gaghan

Teams wait for the airline counter to open, having determined that their two options are a Continental flight arriving at 6:39 p.m. and an American Airline flight arriving at 9:10 p.m. Teams all wait at the Continental counter. Teams get tickets on:

Continental flight 422, departs New Orleans at 9:55 a.m., connecting in Houston, and arriving in Panama City at 6:39 p.m.: Linz, Bransen, and Paolo families.

American flight: Godlewski, Weaver, and Gaghan families.

Teams arrive at Tocumen Airport in Panama City. Here is a map of the city. Here is a historical map of the canal. They depart the airport:
1) Linz

4) Gaghan
5) Godlewski
6) Weaver

They then go 31 miles by taxi to the docks of the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute in Gamboa. Here are the Institute’s directions. Taxi fare from the airport is about $35. They arrive at the dock:

4) Godlewski
5) Gaghan
6) Weaver

At the Gambon dock, they learn the first boat won't depart until 7:00 a.m. Teams all sleep in a building at the docks, and agree to depart in the order in which they arrived. Travel speed varies as they cross the Panama Canal, and teams arrive at the Barro Colorado, an island in Gatun Lake, in the Atlantic side of the canal:

3) Godlewski
4) Weaver
5) Linz
6) Gaghan

Once on the island, they need to find a scientist, named Ricardo Diaz, who is in a hammock. He will have their next clue. They find him:

Included with the clue is a:

FAST FORWARD
To win the fast forward, teams must make their way to Pier 14, and all perform a tandem bungee jump (their equipment has bungee.com on it). The Paolo and Gaghan families both elect to go for the Fast Forward, the Paolos complete it first, and win the Fast Forward. Brian and his father jumped first, followed by DJ and his mother. The Gaghans then left to do the Rhythm detour, and the Paolos were directed go directly to the Pit Stop, at the Miraflores locks, at the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal.

For all others, the next clue is a:

DETOUR
Rhythm or Coos

Rhythm--Teams make their way to Casco Viejo (in the lower right corner of Map #5, find four different locations, retrieving four instruments at each location. The location and instruments are:

Teatro Nacional -- saxophone
Escuela Simon Bolivar -- trumpet
Casa Con[...?...] -- conga
Art Institute -- trombone

They then must deliver them to the Take 5 Jazz Bar, put them in their proper cases, and the band director will give them their next clue. Choosing this option are: Godlewski, Linz, and Gaghan families.

Coos--Teams must make their way to the Parque National Metropolitano (located just outside of Panama City, on Juan Pablo II Avenue, located on Map #2) and obtain a bird identification card and binoculars. They then must find the five wooden birds among the trees, and circle them on the card. If they have correctly identified the birds, the ranger will give them their next clue. If not, they must do it again.

Teams must go back across the canal to the dock where they started, and make their way back to Panama City, for all tasks. They depart the island:
1) Paolo
2) Weaver
3) Godlewski
4) Linz
5) Bransen
6) Gaghan

Again, the boats travel at varying speeds, and arrive back at the dock:
1) Paolo
2) Bransen
3) Gaghan
4) Godlewski
5) Linz
6) Weaver

At the dock, waiting for each team is a Diablo Roja, the colorfully decorated local buses. Teams complete the detour:
2) Weaver
3) Bransen
4) Linz
5) Godlewski

The next clue directs teams to make their way to the Estadio Juan Demóstenes Arosemena (located on the Panama City map #6 in the upper left, marked "estadio". They arrive there in the order they completed the detour, and encounter a:

ROADBLOCK
Who Can Hit in a Pinch?

One team member must play the most popular American sport in Panama. The selected member of each team must get a base hit or homerun against a baseball player. Each player has three opportunities, and then must go to the end of the line.

Selected team member, and the order that the Roadblock is completed is as follows:

3) Bransen -- Beth
4) Linz -- Nick
5) Gaghan -- Bill
6) Godlewski -- Sharon

The final clue directs teams to make their way to Miraflores locks, the Pit Stop for this leg of the race. Teams arrive there:
1) Paolo -- who win a trip for four back to Panama, to the Gamboa Rainforest Resort
2) Weaver
3) Bransen
4) Linz
5) Gaghan
6) Godlewski, who learn it is a Non-Elimination leg, and are not eliminated, but lose all their possessions and money. They will start the next leg with no money.
