Teams leave the pitstop at Huntsville, Alabama at the following times:
1) 1:15 p.m. -- Bransen
2) 1:18 p.m. -- Linz
3) 1:33 p.m. -- Schroeder
4) 1:44 p.m. -- Godlewski
5) 3:34 p.m. -- Weaver
6) 3:50 p.m. -- Paolo
7) 3:53 p.m. -- Gaghan

The first clue directs teams to drive to Anniston, Alabama (located at 625 Noble St., directions, 100 miles, driving time 2 hrs 30 min. Some teams seem to have taken a much longer route, on Interstate 65S, the Schroeders took Hwy 431) and find the World's largest office chair (This site has even more big chairs!). On the seat of the chair is their next clue. One member of each team must climb up and get it. Teams arrive here, and member climbing is:

The next clue directs teams to find the routemarker at the International Motor Sports Hall of Fame, in Talladega, Alabama (directions, 25 miles, driving time 45 mins), where they arrive:

3) Schroeder
4) Godlewski
5) Weaver
6) Gaghan
7) Paolo

The clue directs teams to make their way into the Talladega Superspeedway (map). There, they must complete one lap (2.6 miles) around the track, using the provided vehicle, a Party Bike. When completed, the race official will give them their next clue. Teams complete the task in the same order.

The next clue directs teams to drive to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and find the Southern Colonel, which is (but they are not told) a mobile home dealership (located at 7290 Hwy 49 North, directions, 260 miles, driving time 4 hrs 49 min). Once there, they must search through 37 trailer homes for one of three departure times the next morning. Once a ticket is taken, they cannot exchange it for another. Departure times are 7:20 a.m., 7:40 a.m., and 8:00 a.m. They will spend the night in the trailer home. Teams arrive, and the selected departure times are:

1) Linz -- 7:20 a.m.
2) Bransen -- 7:20 a.m.
3) Godlewski -- 7:40 a.m.
4) Weaver -- 8:00 a.m.
5) Schroeder -- 8:00 a.m.
6) Gaghan -- 8:00 a.m.

Teams find their next clue on the windshield of their vehicles upon departure. They depart Southern Colonel Homes:

The clue directs them to drive to Richland, Mississippi (85 miles) and find the BP gas station (Fleet Morris Petroluem) (located at 916 Hwy 49 South (directions, 76 miles, driving time 2 hours), and find the man named Les. He will give them their next clue. They arrive at the station:

2) Bransen
3) Paolo
4) Godlewski
5) Weaver
6) Gaghan
7) Schroeder

The next clue directs teams to drive to the Pelican State (Louisiana) to Fairview Riverside State Park, in Madisonville (directions, 151 miles, driving time 2 hrs 45 mins) to the routemarker at the fishing dock. Teams arrive there:

3) Paolo
4) Godlewski
5) Gaghan
6) Weaver
7) Schroeder

There, they encounter a:

DETOUR
Work or Play

Teams must choose between two options. Before doing either, they must put on appropriate period clothing. For play - the men wear embroidered shirts with string ties and the women wear dresses with feather boas. For work - a plaid lumberjack shirt for all.

Work -- Teams selecting this option must cut four slices from a 12-inch diameter log, using a two-person handsaw. Once completed, the sawyer will hand them their next clue. Selecting this option: Paolo, Godlewski. The Linz and Gaghan families switch to this task.

Play -- Teams selecting this option must make their way (paddle a canoe) out to a riverboat, the Cotton Blossom, and play blackjack against the dealer. All team members must beat the dealer on the same hand in order to win the round. They must win three rounds to receive their clue, which the dealer will give them. Selecting this option are: Linz (who switch to the other task), Bransen, Gaghan (who switch), Weaver, and Schroeder.

They complete the detour in the following order:

The final clue directs teams to drive to the pit stop in New Orleans, Louisiana at Preservation Hall. (See the Interactive Tour for photos.) (located at 726 St. Peters St., directions, 40 miles, driving time 1 hr). They must travel across the Lake Pontchartrain Causeway and park their vehicles on Esplanade Street, and make their way through the French Quarter to Preservation Hall. Teams arrive at the pit stop:

1) Bransen, who win a trip for four to Orlando, Florida

7) Schroeder, who were eliminated
