6) 8:21am-- Paolo family
7) 8:24am-- Bransen family
8) 8:37am-- Aiello family
9) 8:45am-- Linz family

The first clue directs teams to travel (15 miles) to Shoehouse Road, in the town of York, Pennsylvania. There they must search the giant shoe (at 195 Shoehouse Road, directions) to find their next clue. Teams arrive there in the same order they departed the pitstop.

The next clue directs teams to drive themselves to Washington, D.C. to the reflecting pool in front of the U.S. Capitol. Teams travel via Route 30W (the Rogers family goes east on 30, and eventually turns around) and Highway 83S to Washington (directions). Several teams waste time at the wrong reflecting pool. (Good map here)

Teams arrive at the reflecting pool in the following order:
1) Weaver
2) Godlewski
3) Paolo
4) Schroeder
5) Linz
6) Aiello
7) Gaghan (who say they'd been 2 hours searching the wrong pool)
8) Bransen
9) Rogers

The next clue directs them to find the limousine parked on 3rd Avenue, and get a briefcase from the "unseen contact" inside. Teams arrive at the limo in the same order as they arrived at the reflecting pool.

The next clue directs them to search the tidal basin for the next clue. They arrive there:
1) Weaver
2) Godlewski
3) Paolo
4) Schroeder
5) Aiello
6) Linz
7) Gaghan
8) Bransen
9) Rogers.

There, they encounter a:

ROADBLOCK
Who's Ready for a Covert Operation?

The selected member of each team must search the tidal basin area, where there are 50 people with briefcases matching the one they retrieved from the limo. Only 10 of these are ‘spies’. When they say to the spy “The sky is blue," a spy will respond, "The sea is green." Once making contact, they will exchange their briefcase for the spy's, which contains their next clue. Teams complete the task, and the team members complete it in the following order:

1) Godlewski--Sharon
2) Paolo--DJ
3) Weaver--Rebecca
4) Schroeder--Mark
5) Aiello--David
6) Gaghan--Tammy
7) Linz--Nick
8) Bransen--Wally
9) Rogers--Brittney

The clue in the briefcase directs teams to travel (49 miles) to the town of Middleburg, Virginia and find Welbourne Manor (at 22314 Welbourne Farm Ln. directions. This is an aerial map of the location.) Here is a history of the family who has owned the home for eight generations, which is now a Bed & Breakfast. Here is a B&B listing (bottom of page) with photo.

Teams arrive there:
1) Weaver
2) Godlewski
3) Linz
4) Schroeder
5) Bransen
6) Aiello
7) Gaghan
8) Paolo
9) Rogers

There, they encounter a:

Heat of the Battle — or — Heat of the Night

Teams must select between two military duties common during the Civil War.

Selecting this option are: Godlewski, Linz, Bransen, Aiello, Gaghan, Paolo, and Rogers (who quit and switched to the other option) families.

Heat of the Night — Teams selecting this option must roll a barrel of oil to a workstation, fill twenty lamps with the oil, and take them to a table and light all twenty for the quartermaster, in order to retrieve their next clue. Selecting this option are: Weaver, Schroeder, and Rogers families.

The next clue directs teams to take a flag and run to the next pitstop in a nearby meadow. They arrive at the pitstop:
