Clown Al Reports!

The Amazing Race 4.4: Al Looks Back

We spent a lot of time that evening in the pit stop, racking our brains trying to figure out where we thought the race may go next. I recall Jon and I talking with Steve and Dave, Chuck and Millie, and Steve and Josh…we came down to the conclusion that who knows!
Not liking controversy, Jon and I just kind of went with our game plan and as luck would have it we met this one kid on the train and Jon and asked him if we can borrow his cell phone.
As we departed we knew that we wanted to get to the airport as soon as possible and that we were taking the train to get there. Jon and Kelly were right there as well and Jon and I really were just doing our thing when we kind of felt like Millie was kind of shoving off Kelly whenever she asked a question. Not liking controversy, Jon and I just kind of went with our game plan and as luck would have it we met this one kid on the train and Jon and asked him if we can borrow his cell phone (if you looked carefully you’d see the kid standing in the background and Jon with his cell). We gave the kid some money for use.

So we knew what planes left and when and we were able to get on the flights. Once in France we made our way to LeMans, that was crazy. Dumb Jon and I had the taxi drop us off in the front of the gates, but we learned that a lot of the other racers had their taxis bring them right to the track. Jon was a genius at the tire changing and racing. Once on our way to Marseilles, we stopped and wound up in a computer club or classroom where we were trying to find directions. What a waste of time! We wound up taking the LONG route to Marseilles. It was a long tiresome ride and it was one of the few times where we switched off driving and took turns. Once in Marseilles, we parked on the side and tried to get some sleep (I stress “tried”) -- sleeping four in a car is cramped! The morning came and so did the drama, like you saw everyone was up in arms over team Chip and Dale and the Surfer Chicks (all the teams had nicknames and these were the ones these teams became known as to us) just pulling up in front. Jon and I weren’t even too confrontational and all I remember is getting into a bit of an argument with Reichen. Out of nowhere he came up to me and said, “we know that you guys are teaming up and trying to get us out of the race.” Quite honestly, I was shocked and my quite genius although silly (for an early morning argument) reply was “what are you talking about? Ya know I am going to give you my phone number and when this episode airs you can call me up and apologize for saying that.” LOL, LOL, LOL, I still can’t believe I said that! LOL!
The drive for the lighthouse went well for Jon and me, we really felt like we were cooking now, and we really didn’t have much trouble getting to the gorge.
The drive for the lighthouse went well for Jon and me, we really felt like we were cooking now, and we really didn’t have much trouble getting to the gorge. As you saw, it was the one time I got a little snippy with Jon as I rappelled down that 200-foot mountain. Okay, I was tired and cranky as I said “Jon, shut up!” Once down at the base of the mountain, we began our climb to the top and we were exhausted and that’s when Jon and Kelly took the lead in front of us BUT in the travels to the pit stop, our navigational skills helped us out. It was kind of funny, when we arrived at the pit stop we arrived at the same time as Chuck and Millie and when we saw the Surfer Chicks (Tian and Jaree) we asked them if they took the Fast Forward. Their response to us was “Oh, no, we didn’t take the Fast Forward.” Oh boy, so the drama continues….. That night everyone was exhausted, we stayed in an absolutely gorgeous centuries-old castle and tried to get as much rest as possible before it all started again the next day!
