“In Control” – Leg…err…second to last

Hey Gump:

Here’s an idea – why don’t we do a whole column of “Find Romber”? We would have no actual article, just a bunch of pictures that I Photo-shop Rob and Amber into. I think that’s the only thing anyone pays attention to anyhow.

I don’t know, man. I think we’ve pretty well over-played the “Find Romber” bit. Besides which, there was a lot of crap we could really rip on this week – Romber using the Yield on Ron & Kelly (a really stupid move), that whole bus driving thing, and Meredith & Gretchen getting eliminated – finally! I think we should also do a joke about there not being prizes for finishing third this week.

Would you give it a rest on the prizes, dude? So we finished first one leg and got nothing. So we’re one of only six teams ever not to get to go to New York after they were eliminated. So our season won an Emmy and we didn’t even get a “thank you” from CBS or WRP. Give it up! No one really cares. Most everyone seems to think our season was the worst TAR ever, anyhow. We’re just lucky they didn’t cancel the show. Why not jump off the prizes bandwagon, and back onto the “Find Romber” bandwagon? Look at the attachment – I took the picture of the whole cast of TAR7 and replaced Rob & Amber with you and me. I made you Amber.

There it is. I knew you didn’t like the parts I added about the prizes. Oh sure, you said they were funny, but your true colors finally come out. And as for that stupid frigging picture, come on! You already did that bit – with the Survivor All Stars picture, remember? At least you could be a little original. Then again, why should I expect originality from your pictures when you keep rehashing the same complaint against all of TWoP, even though it was only one person you had a fight with? Get over it!

S.

PS: Stop making me Amber! My hooters are much bigger than hers.

You know, we could just do our normal “pick the winners” column. The finale is next week, after all.

That’s a good idea. Put me down for Romber to hit the mat first by three lengths. Uchenna and Joyce to place and Ron and Kelly to show.

I guess now is the time for me to defend my picks. We all know that Rob and Amber have a wedding special during sweeps. Why does CBS think the fickle viewing public would watch? Could it be because they have a combined THREE first place finishes on their network? Multimillionaires? I say yes. Now, I understand that most of the fans of the race abhor Romber. I happen to think they are terrific. Allow me to “Dr. Phil” the situation. I think The Amazing Race is a show where the majority of the viewers can imagine themselves racing in place of anyone on the show. Now they see Rob and Amber on the show “taking their place.” Why, those rotten famewhores. I contend that those two would be very popular for their racing abilities and general good humor if their pusses had never graced the screen before. I also contend ANYONE put in their situation would take advantage of EVERY opportunity that CBS allowed them. I welcome any persuasive argument to my theory.

Ha! You must be on crack – never gonna happen that way. I’ll say Uchenna & Joyce first, Rob and Amber second, and Ron & Kelly in third.

As far as your theory on Romber goes, you know that I’ve never disagreed with you in regards to them. We both agree that they are excellent racers – and your point about them being a very popular team had not they appeared on reality television prior to this is very well made. Of course, you and I have the perspective of former racers going for us. We also both sat in front of the screen saying, “I could do that”; and “Boy, was THAT a dumb decision.” Then we were actually IN a race and found out that things aren’t always as simple as they seem. I think that is one of the reasons that we both appreciate how well Rob and Amber are truly doing. We also aren’t obsessed with their multiple appearances in the CBS reality show line-up due to the fact that we’d both jump at the chance to run The Amazing Race again.

I’ve got $20 that says I’m right. And I’ll even throw in 5-1 odds on a parlay that says Rupert and his family will be on TAR8. I’ve always known more about TAR than you, and always will.

Well, you get the idea. Here again are our picks for the winner of TAR7:

Steve:
1st – Rob & Amber
2nd – Uchenna & Joyce
3rd – Ron & Kelly

Dave:
1st – Uchenna & Joyce
2nd – Rob & Amber
3rd – Ron & Kelly

(So if you’re smart, you’ll bet the farm on Ron & Kelly winning…)
