Parading Pachyderms and Colossal Camels!
All right, Race fans . . . this episode did not disappoint; it picked up a lot steam, and it had a frenzied pace throughout. I enjoyed it all. I thought it was clever to have the mat in the middle of the leg to throw everyone for a loop. This season, the production crew really tried to mix it up a bit so the Race was not so predictable. I like it that way.
The scenes in India really brought back memories from TAR 4. Gosh, their train was SO much nicer than ours. And the auto-rickshaws-funny! I can't believe nobody dyed the clothes for the clue. Our year, we had "Suds and Duds." Everyone washed except for Jon and I, and our search for the damn sarong nearly cost us the race!
Only two fast forwards? Hmm, I think it's good not to have a Fast Forward on every leg of the Race as in our year, but I think there should be more than two. The racing the camel task was precious, simply precious. Oh, how I wished Amber had run into more trouble with that. It seems as if every time she and Rob run into trouble, someone helps them out!
I was so sorry to see Lynn & Alex go bye-bye. I just can't believe it. They made me laugh with their little antics, aww. The Race will definitely lack something without them! I was sure it was going to be a non-elimination . . . whhhew! Man oh man, I've been way off this season.
Uchenna & Joyce: This was their episode. They played the game right all the way through. I thought Joyce was amazing! When she found out what the Fast Forward was, she didn't hesitate. She said, "We are here, and we are going to do this." Yes, she shed some tears, and I can understand why, but she really played like a champion.
Uchenna & Joyce have amazed me; I didn't think they had the go-for-it attitude in the beginning. Boy, was I wrong. They've really stepped on the gas in the later legs and have shown the other teams that they are also a team to be reckoned with. Good for them! Congrats! You guys deserve first place all the way! If they continue the way they have been, there's no telling whose Race it will be.
Ron & Kelly: They pulled it out in the last steps getting to the mat. I certainly hope they realize that Rob & Amber are just as much a threat to them as anyone else is. Did you see Rob try to push Ron when they were going to the mat? Sheesh (as Louis would say)!
Ron & Kelly did a great job all the way through, although I still think, sometimes, they just seem to go in slow motion. I don't know why. Maybe it's just . . . hmmmm . . . their actions or demeanor. But they did hustle in the auto-rickshaw and beat Rob and Amber to the mat (even having to stop for gas!). I think it's nice that they have befriended Romber, BUT they have to be sooo careful. Rob isn't a person I think you can trust for ANYTHING when it comes to money . . .
Rob & Amber: Wow. I still say they have luck as I have never ever seen before. Rob's aggressive behavior with the locals, the way he talked down to people, and the way he ordered around the Indian guy were just so ugly American and so demeaning . . . ugggh. I didn't like it at all. I guess some people don't care what they have to do or how they look as long as they make money.
Rob & Amber are still running this Race unbelievably well, and I say they are the front-runners to win. I got a big laugh out of Amber driving the camel and having it turn around. It was fun to see the team struggle even if it was insignificant. And it was good to see Rob hustle and push the elephant and not get his personal tour guide to do it all for him. This team has been playing it correctly form the get-go, although I can't say they are exactly nice and sweet. I guess this Race isn't about that, but, still, it just is not pleasant to watch all the nastiness and the shouting of orders and the taking advantage of people without so much as a "Thanks for your help," or a genuine show of affection or gratitude. It's going to be a race to the finish, and it would be nice to see these two struggle through it and sweat it out a little more. By the way, did everyone see Rob at the mat? He looked pissed!
Meredith & Gretchen: They always somehow get through by the skin of their teeth! I don't know how they do it, but they do it each and every time. It keeps the show exciting and keeps us wondering, but I just can't believe how they pull it out in a pinch. What the heck was she thinking when she got up on top of that elephant! Oh jeez, I just couldn't believe her. Her comments throughout and her grunts and groans were also priceless! I am very, very glad these two are still in it, and I want nothing more than for them to win the cool million, but that remains to be seen. There is still a long way to go, and these two cats are on life number 8. Congrats to them for being the oldest couple to go the furthest, as well-rah rah rah! Now, let's see them come in first place this week!
Lynn & Alex: Awwwwwwwwww, I really did not want or expect them to get eliminated . . . damn! They really ran a good race and were competitive all the way. It was that one damn mistake of going to the wrong palace that killed 'em! For me, the Race is just not going to be the same without them in it, they were the funny guys on it, and I enjoyed them fully. I think they enjoyed every minute and were very sincere when they said they had had an experience of a lifetime! Awww, well, we have to say buh-bye. Sorry, guys, I really thought you were gonna give Rob & Amber a run for their money!
Looking forward to the next episode as always, I think it is definitely going to be missing something with Lynn & Alex gone. I hope the Race still stays competitive and exciting-I guess I will just have to wait like the rest of you. Hey, has everyone heard about Rob and Amber's wedding being picked up by CBS? I read it in my local paper. Sheesh, what's next?
