Fashion Report - Episode Three

Iím enjoying the hell out of this season so far. I didnít dislike season four as much as most people, but this year has blown last year out of the water, and itís just the third episode!
Swimmerboy: I gotta tell ya, Iím enjoying the hell out of this season so far. I didnít dislike season four as much as most people, but this year has blown last year out of the water, and itís just the third episode! And surprisingly, I didnít count very many fashion blunders at all this week. What did you think, Daria?

Daria: Iím going to say something extremely heretical, Swimmerboy. When Iím most enjoying the race, I barely notice the clothes. So Iím having to rewatch a couple of times in order to do this report. And I say this as someone whoís excited about the fact that my dear mailman delivered the latest copy of Vogue today. Yay!

Swimmerboy: Mirna may be somewhat of an irritating shrew, but I have to admit I really liked her ensemble this week. Black and red is always a good combination, and the red sweater--while maybe a bit impractical for racing--was very flattering on her. Blondes always look best in red in my opinion, and Mirna really looked great. The twins also were semi-coordinated, and I especially liked the soft blue color of Kami?Karli?ís top.

Daria: Iím at the stage where I would love to dissect the racersí backpacks, and Mirna is at the top of my list. She looks good. I just wonder where sheís stashed all this stuff. The twins make more sense to me. While a couple of their interview shirts have seemed a bit impractical, their racing garb has been sleek and sensible. I like their look. It comes down to whether you want to take the most practical clothing from what looks good on you, as Mirna has done, or instead take the most flattering of the practical clothing, as the twins have done. Iíll go with Kami and Karli on this one.

Swimmerboy: Kim was sporting the head scarf again this week. Marsha donned a visor (has she been collaborating with Brennan?), and the pizza brothers had on their ever-present Cafť Nostra baseball caps (because, you know, their t-shirts arenít nearly enough advertising). Iím beginning to think this really is all that those guys packed. And now theyíve gotten to Chip! No, Chip! Run away! Run far away!!!
Please donít get me started on the Cafť Nostril boys.
Daria: Please donít get me started on the Cafť Nostril boys. I have the distinct impression theyíre on the show just to advertise. They certainly donít seem to be enjoying themselves. They should know that a smile is a fabulous accessory. Thatís one reason I love watching the Bowling Moms, despite their weak wardrobe. They just beam, and with that the blecherous shirts are forgiven.

Swimmerboy: Well, after three weeks in South America, Iím looking forward to seeing the racers head to a cooler climate. I canít wait to see what types of parkas and head gear they whip out for the cold of Russia! Iím sure Mirna will be prancing around like some kind of Ice Princess.

Daria: Iím particularly eager to see what Chip & Kim wear in Russia, because I find them to be very attractive people. Then again, for the most part, I like this group. Russia may make the case for Charla and Mirna staying in the race this long Ė Mirna will surely sparkle, and I continue to be intrigued by Charlaís garb, especially now that I know itís likely to have been tailored.

Swimmerboy: Phil looked as hot as ever this week. And his hotness meter shot up even further when he cracked on Kami and Karli for swimming across the lake instead of walking through the shallow part! Hee!

Daria: I havenít checked to see if Phil has a new wardrobe mistress, or if the old one got clued in, but whoever is putting him in Western wear should be applauded. Of course, in Russia we could see hideous red sweaters, but Iím hoping for something in a light blue, which is his best color IMO.

Swimmerboy: Am I the only one who thinks Brandon is looking better week after week? I was thinking that if he did something decent with his hair, he might actually be rather handsome. AndÖuhÖhe still has nice legs. Just sayiní.

Daria: So youíre a leg man? Iím more intrigued by his upper body. I have to say, though, that I donít like his shirts. Theyíre practical, but they have a distinct Wal-Martish look about them. Itís okay to wear inexpensive clothes from discount stores, but heís an attractive man, and heís on national TV. I hope his winter wardrobe shows more flair.
Bob and Joyce have a lock on the Pretty People Award for the foreseeable future.
Swimmerboy: Copying you from last week, Iím giving my Pretty People Award to Bob and Joyce. They ran an excellent leg from start to finish, didnít piss anybody off (unless you count that Insider video, which I kinda donít), and still seem to be having a helluva great time. Theyíre adorably cute.

Daria: Bob and Joyce have a lock on the Pretty People Award for the foreseeable future. Joyce is endearing for her enthusiasm alone, and her unfussy look is one that future racers should emulate. Bob seems like a sweet guy, in his way, and I like that he and Joyce are subtly coordinated. Theyíre Exhibit A on how to dress for the Race. I canít wait to see what they have for cold weather. So on to episode four!
